The Knots

My art explores the historical significance of knots used in Ghana as ladders during the African slave trade, serving as a support. Through my work, I aim to shed light on the resilience and ingenuity of my ancestors who endured this dark chapter of human history. By intertwining elements of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary artistic expression, I seek to honor the stories which were impacted by this harrowing period, while also provoking reflection and dialogue about the ongoing legacy of slavery and the enduring human spirit.
